Liminal Space
Liminal Space is a series of photographs taken on medium format film exploring the quiet moments that have happened in the midst of figuring out who I am. Relying on a combination of intuition, chance, and mild fabrication, these photographs emerged from time spent with my closest friends in nature. The human connection to nature plays an important role in this series, as nature has always provided a space of healing and clarification for me. The cyclical essence of growth in nature has felt synchronous to the growth happening in my own life; some things must die in one season in order to make room for new flourishment in another. Rather than spend too much time focusing on the nebulous area between letting go of my childhood and accepting adulthood, I have photographed moments that could seemingly be insignificant or mundane to others, but have provided me with a space that eases the discomfort brought on by growing pains, uncertainty and self-doubt.
