Subtle Shift

Subtle Shift is an exploration of time, light, and momentary perceptions through the process of digital collage techniques. Moments in times that are often unnoticed, such as birds passing overhead, the light shimmers across the ceiling as a car passes, and the visceral effect that these moments spark when seen in layers. Transparent layers of fleeting moments overlapping to create a new atmosphere for these feelings to live in. Engaging with these perceptions of time and light, it allows space to step inside a memory, while focusing on the fragmented and abstracted parts. These reflections become a distortion of how reality is understood.

The fluidity of photography as a material is what allows this work to push boundaries, paying attention to surface, edges and the transformative nature of the image into an abstracted object. In this abstract space, the work creates a subtle but recognizable shift and if we look close enough, there are familiarities present. I look to expand the uses of photography as a medium by exploring the in-between places through the crafting of light composites.
