Tranquility of Solitude
I photograph myself in order to dissect my body's relationship with the place where I care for myself. In my own home, I have autonomy over my body. When I am elsewhere, I do not have the same security.
The stillness and softness of black and white photography helps me establish a visual result that conveys silence and tranquility. Though these photographs may initially be interpreted as representing feelings of sadness or loneliness, I know that finding understanding and comfort in one's own emotions, especially in private, can also represent serenity and acceptance.
