Free Me

Free Me tells the story of my mental state and the pain I have endured this past year. It demonstrates restriction and the cutting loose of ties that no longer serves my soul's purpose. The development of my work was purely based on strong emotions and from the feeling of being trapped in a connection that I no longer wanted. I endured mental and physical pain that was hard for me to speak about, and the easiest way for me to express myself was through imagery. Free Me is made with a large inkjet print and polaroids of former friends, along with red string. The red string is symbolic of the ties I have with these people. Many of the strings are not connected to me, which is a figurative example of the ties with which I have cut. Free Me is presented as an installation because it allows me to manifest these severed ties outside of the digital world.
