Reverie

Reverie is a series of photographs which explores ideas of altered perception and the mysticism of the mind. When recalling our real life memories or dreams, we reconstruct and reorganize pieces in an attempt to visualize the occurrence. This process leads us to exist within a world of ever-changing perception relating to our remembered experiences and visions. Reverie examines how both reality and the invented constantly coincide within our minds.

My approach to photo-making is rooted in analog photography. The mystery, anticipation and limitations are all aspects of film that ground me in my practice. I am drawn to certain materials found in both nature and the urban landscape. What draws me to these materials is based in the formal components of image-making which include texture, pattern, shape, form, line and color. In combining these materials I strive to create obscured, fragmented and ambiguous imagery. Exploration of materiality is important to my art practice, I aim to push the boundaries of how certain materials are perceived.
